Writer’s note: OCTOBER is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I wrote this essay/blog a couple of years back to not only discuss violence against women and girls, but to also offer practical solutions for both males and females on how to combat this global plague. Since males are far more likely to assault, abuse, and batter women (as opposed to the other way around), it is especially important to me that men and boys read this essay, and that we think long and hard about any and all violence as a form of mental illness, which it is. And that we seek help by way of counseling and therapy, and the other steps I cite in the piece.
