An exercise in iambic pentameter
By Julia B. Hamilton- April 2018
By contrast we experience and define
The attributes divine in time and space.
Thus through the crucible of karmic fire
Our virtues we refine and flaws erase.
As ego yields to heart in thought and deed
From struggle, strife, and bondage we are freed
To live anew in unity and peace
As masters unto service we release.
In stillness potentialities abide,
Unmanifest polarities at rest
In balance unperturbed inside the void
Beyond destruction and creation hid.
There unimagined realms dwell unobserved
Twixt nonexistence and existence trapped
'Till an unconscious stir thereby creates
The possibility of consciousness.
Awareness dawns awakening itself
Beholding both as subject and object;
Perspectives mirrored, one perceived as two
As separation stillness bids adieu.
Direction forms as centers fly apart,
In chaos seeking for they know not what.
Divisions replicating without cause
Except to center where the center's not.
As counterparts collide together merged
In blissful balance back into the void,
The greater part cannot resist the pull
Uniting parts to form the greater whole
Where none and all eternally are One.
The remnant strives the balance to restore
Sublime unblemished stillness unaware.
But stillness has a context to maintain
And so begins the separation game.
The light of consciousness shines out and in
Aware of movement of awareness made;
Pure consciousness creates the essence thus
Of motion out of substance of itself.
Seeing both creator and creation
Identifying both as self and All
The painter, paint, and canvass of the cosmos
As consciousness declares to All "I am!"
As multiplying centers split
Into a universe they fit
Contracting inwards toward the core
Their numbers growing evermore.
Infinities in grains of sand
In deserts' stillness seem to rest;
God's limitless procession march
The human measures with a foot.
Or with a shrinking yardstick metes the gap
Of space made from contraction's inward move.
The universe its frame of reference takes
From its dimensions constant it relates.
So from the universal point of view
No distance 'tween the edge and center's seen;
Within the spaceless space contained therein
Contraction's inward spiral onward spins.
At zero time infinity is x
Time one is one times x where y is time.
Time 2 the rad'ius shrinks by half; by 3,
A third of unit's distance left. A fourth,
A fifth, a sixth, and seventh follow suit,
A thousandth, billionth, zillionth, and a heaventh.
In constant rate of motion is pursued
The all elusive asymptotic prize
Receding edges chase to catch the cores
Just out of reach eternally they strive.
Cartesian plots do thus express the shape
Where x does represent the distance ‘tween
The moving edges and the core, and y
The time elapsed and slides towards x's floor.
The hyperbolic edges stretch unbound
Along the axes intersecting not;
The origin cleaves pure polarity
Where Yeats foretold the centre hold cannot.
Along the upward narrowing axis y
Align celestial fractal spheres opposed
Approaching from both sides of the divide.
The intersecting points by resonance
Select the crossing of dimensions' gates
As planets, galaxies, and stars complete
Their cycles now returning where they meet.
Ascending planets rise to higher spheres
With matching frequencies thus magnetized,
But those with karmic lessons left unlearned
To lower realms a passage they aspire.
The universal heartbeat pulses slow
As singularities in rhythmic flow
Advance through space and time in stern progress
O'er eons its relentless cadence press.
But singularities at quantum scale
In magnitude of order weakly pale,
In trillionths of a second they vibrate
Th’eternal cosmic aum they generate.
As Ouroboros swallows its own tail
The relative proportions spiral 'round
Transforming what's minute to what is great
And glacial paced evolvements to a blink.
But with the shrinking core the yardstick shrinks
And shrinking humans notice not the kinks
Inherent in such limited purview;
Celestial beings unimpressed must wink.
The gap between the edge and core at one
Is designated still as distance x
With the inconstant ruler measured thus
The y at unit time shows x as one,
At y equal to two shows x as two;
At y equal to three x equals three,
So goes the pattern to infinity.
Where y and x as equal they remain,
A line draws their relationship, 'tis plain.
Y equals m times x plus b we learned
From high school algebra in classes gleaned.
A constant rate of speed it does describe.
What scientific observation made
Defines that rate within a vacuum "c"?
You're right! The speed of light the answer be.
A fixed size universe where matter shrinks
Is taken as the frame of reference for
The astral observations made from Earth
As visiting galactics metrics store.
A missile launched from land to space unleashed
Accelerates to catch the speed of light.
The center towards the inward moving edge
The perpendicular dimension thus
A flattened pancake looks on earth to us.
And since the time elapsed within the craft
Was spent contractionless from earthly gaze
Returning passengers refused to age,
And watching, waiting comrades did amaze.
So while the missile speeding and yet still
Was bypassed by a speeding body seen
From earth on a trajectory obtuse
Away from missile with velocity
Approaching near the constant speed of c.
The missile flies the other way from it,
But added speeds do not describe the rate
At which the widening gap's combined speeds make.
Acceleration mimics gravity
In Einstein's special relativity
Entraining objects in proximity
Within the raised effective increased mass
Where speeding bodies waving thereby pass.
The common center binds the weight of all;
Within the field it generates the pull
Which mitigates the speed to light speed's bound.
The moving edge towards center onward drills;
Away from light's ubiquity it flees.
Contracting matter's movement sets the stage
Wherein this apparition wryly plays
As physics nimbly frames the cosmic joke:
Light doesn't move but movement makes it seem!
So in the telescopic view we peer
Into the Godly endoscope and cheer.
And into youthful Krishna's pranking mouth
We look to find the universe and shout.
As travel in the TARDIS makes more sense
In timescaped planned vacation's reverie
Investors queued to equity acquire
The means therefore providing our desire.
Technology which modifies the pace
As shrinking matter alters size and shape
Contracting or expanding in a field
To future, past, or present's vast expanse.
Or if at destination's end the match
To starting growth or shrink rate agrees not
A royal ambassador might be dispatched
Surveying graciously a new domain.
A timeline at a different frequency
Where matter dark no longer dark appears
Unveils the phantom missing mass long sought
By physics and astronomers nonplussed.
This screed could ramble aimlessly,
A theme and variations be,
But trying readers' patience serves
No purpose but to test their nerves.
So humbly I with thanks implore
That my indulgence proves worthwhile
And time invested deemed well spent
Engaged in thought experiment.
My name bears not a lofty PhD
To qualify the thoughts expressed above.
In truth I must confess a mind obtuse
Confronted by string theory's strange abuse.
Therefore, the end bestows it's sweet relief
To justify suspended disbelief.
