    today.

This is one initiative that the Dems need to actually succeed at.  And because, as mentioned above, there are states and localities that already have a considerably higher one than the proposed $9.00, it needs to be done ASAP.

So we all need to lobby Congress big-time, to get this passed.

I heard a dude from an organization on Seder's show who indicated that the proposal was more of an electoral tactic, than a real goal.  [IOW, to bring out voters in 2014.]  I hope not.  That would be a major mistake.  This policy needs to be front and center until it is passed.

And all talk of cutting social insurance programs and raising tax revenue (from lower and middle class folks) needs to be taken off-the-table (LOL!), to use a favorite expression of the elites.

This was one of the best proposals to come out of the SOTU.  Let's all try to make it happen.  :-)

encourage the White House to take this issue "on the road."

It will be tough to get passed, unless the President is willing to put political capital into getting it done.  Which, IMHO, can best be done by getting union support behind him, and staying on the road talking about this issues (rallies, townhalls, etc.)

What I do know is that folks in the red states DO WANT this, regardless of what Republican Party elites say.

So it's a win-win issue. We've just got to spur on the Dem establishment, especially the conservadems.

So, I hope to see support for this initiative in a real big way!

There are CEOs of companies that understand paying your employees a fair wage doesn't hurt your bottom line. Enlist them to counteract the argument that a minimum wage increase is a job killer
