    While I typically find the notion that the minimum wage is bad for the economy to be complete nonsense, it's difficult to isolate the effect of a higher minimum wage from other things that might be affecting local unemployment.

    For example, the commenter above pointed out that San Francisco has a high minimum wage and lower unemployment than the national average; but, San Francisco also has a more highly-educated population than elsewhere in the nation.

    Likewise, Texas has relatively high unemployment despite having no minimum wage other than the federal minimum wage and various other "good for business" policies, but then Texas also has a poorly-educated population.
