Today, the United Kingdom goes to the polls to elect a new Parliament. Polls closed at 5 PM ET, but different seats will report at different times. The first results are expected between 6-7 PM ET, with more seats coming in 7-10 PM, with a deluge of seats coming in starting around 10 PM. Unlike in the U.S. where individual precincts report, the results of the entire constituency come in at once. You can find a comprehensive list of UK election resources

The Tories have also won Colchester from the LDs, which they had been favored to hold. Colchester was the sixth safest seat for the Lib Dems according to May2015, so every LD seat will have to be watched.

Thu May 07, 2015 at 6:56 PM PT (dwb115): So the night started with a shocking exit poll that showed the Conservatives (316 seats predicted) over-performing at the expense of Labour (239 seats) and the Liberal Democrats (10 seats). If anything, the exit poll has underestimated the performance of the Conservatives and party insiders for all three parties have come around to admitting the exit poll is largely on target.
In Scotland the SNP is predicted to win all but one of 59 seats and so far they have won every Scottish seat declared. The question now is will any non-SNP Scottish MP survive.
Labour has yet to take any seats off the Conservatives in early going while the Conservatives have won a seat from the Lib Dems that was low on their target list, so expect many more to come. UKIP has put in numerous strong showings but has yet to get close to winning a seat.
The Conservatives will almost certainly win more than 300 seats and David Cameron will likely remain Prime Minister, but it's an open question whether his party will get to the 323 seats needed to govern with a majority.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 6:57 PM PT (dwb115): Labour finally gets a couple gains, taking Burnley from the Lib Dems and Ealing Central and Acton (a London seat) from the Conservatives.
Thu May 07, 2015 at 7:12 PM PT (dwb115): Jim Murphy, the Scottish Labour leader, has lost to the SNP. He was supposed to run against Nicola Sturgeon at the next Scottish Parliamentary election. Not clear what will happen with Scottish Labour now.
