I think the Main Stream Media needs to put pressure on the McCain campaign to have his Navy records released. There is a piece on Huffpost today discussing the May 29th front page article in the NYT where the report that McCain was offered an admiralty before he resigned from the navy is probably bogus. It also points out that as quoted below the fold only 17 pages of the senators minimum, 636 page record, were released.
Klein also discusses some rumors about McCain's possibly reckless behavior in the Navy that could be cleared up if the records were released.
This is from Jeffrey Klein's article on huffpost:
The Navy may claim that it already released McCain's record to the Associated Press on May 7, 2008 in response to the AP's Freedom of Information Act request. But the McCain file the Navy released contained 19 pages -- a two-page overview and 17 pages detailing Awards and Decorations. Each of these 17 pages is stamped with a number. These numbers range from 0069 to 0636. When arranged in ascending order, they precisely track the chronology of McCain's career. It seems reasonable to ask the Navy whether there are at least 636 pages in McCain's file, of which 617 weren't released to the Associated Press.
The article goes on to say the process of publically releasing this document is quite simple and that John Kerry did it in 2004.
As Sen. McCain has been using his military service as an example of his experience, knowledge of foreign policy and credentials for being POTUS I think the public should be able to take a closer look at those credentials.

Any thoughts on either how this can be encouraged, or why it should or should not happen would be appreciated.
