Jonathan Swift's tombstone reads in latin "here lies Jonathan Swift... where savage indignation can not lacerate the heart."
I'm putting this out there only because for the past week we have been listening to, and hearing about the modern patron saint of "savage indignation" - Rush Limbaugh.
The reason Rush is, as KO put it tonight, "the great immovable force of the republican party" is because his chronic, relentless, "savage indignation" is what sells his show. It is also the only note the GOP presently knows how to play. Rush wants Obama to fail only because he has been indignant for too long. He doesn't know anything else. His human generosity, "his heart" has been lacerated.
Until the Republican party stops representing the false rage of the falsely wronged and starts truly caring about a specific group of people - any group of people, they will be stuck with Rush's heartless, savage indignation. They will be living the warning of Jonathan Swift's epitaph.
I know this isn't a full diary. here's a wiki epitaph site with a weak translation - but no latin
The MSM keeps calling the GOP "the party of no." Swift's tombstone is clearer and gets to the core of the problem.
