Greater Wisconsin has one of the most annoying mailings I have ever seen.
They really needed to talk to some normal people before they decided on this.
It's nice to see that my neighbors, whose names and addresses I redacted before posting this, vote most of the time, but this does not make me feel good about what information is publicly available and what is not, nor does it make me feel good that they are using such a ham-fisted approach.
I will vote. Cheerfully. Why don't they spend time asking why there are so many voters who don't bother or who haven't even registered?
Update: I was wrong. Apparently this is an effective way to get out the vote, no matter how creepy it seems. The entire article, “Social Pressure and Voter Turnout: Evidence from a Largescale Field Experiment”, that Cardinal was referring to in his comments is available. Fascinating.
Wisconsin does not have voter registration by party, so I guess they have to target likely areas that will vote overwhelmingly for Democrats rather than just go with registered Democrats.
