I don't think I have seen this poll reported on before now. This is from Survey USA and sponsored by WCMH-TV in Columbus:
Obama 45%
Romney 44%
More details under the zest a l'Orange.
This poll includes 808 actual and likely voters, Oct. 5-8. MOE ± 3.5%. Crosstabs also available.
This poll has undecideds at 8% in the presidential race: 8% for whites, 6% for blacks. Among independents, Romney leads 44-35 with 12% undecided. Apparently SUSA did not "push" the respondents too hard.
What's interesting about this poll is it broke out those who voted already from those who did not (11%, or about 88 people): 59% support Obama and 39% Romney. But that's a small sample and might not be representative. I've heard a lot of reports from here in Ohio that state that the GOP is doing a better job of getting people to vote early; that might not be true based on the result of this poll.
They also polled the Senate race here too:
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) 42%
Josh Mandel (R) 38%
14% are undecided in this poll on the Senate race. Mandel leads with independents 39-32, with 17% undecided. Among those who already voted, Brown won, 57-37.
The thing that seems to be an outlier here is Dayton-- they polled strong support for Romney and I am not so sure the Dayton area is so Republican. The other metros make sense-- Cincy respondents support Romney, and Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo metros support Obama.
I'm not sure there's much fodder here for the pearl clutchers or others spazzing out over the recent polls...
