Hello everyone. With the re-election of President Obama now realized, I feel the need to add in my two cents, so I'll do that below the calligraphy.
There's no doubt that last night was a hard fought, well earned victory. Despite the deck seemingly being stacked against us, the divisive rhetoric, the stupidity of the right wing from 'Shut the whole thing down' to 2016: Obama's America to the absurd amount of money poured into negative campaigns by the Republicans, we won.
We shouldn't get complacent, though. We still have a long way to go to undo the damage caused by destructive policies. With that said, we've already proven that we can do this, so I ask all of you to keep fighting for the poor, the downtrodden, the disabled, the vets, the union workers, the mothers and fathers who bust their asses to raise their kids, and anyone else the obstructionists seek to disenfranchise for the sake of a very wealthy few.
We may be very different, but at the end of the day, we're all still human beings, living creatures, and we should do all we can to make sure our world reflects that..not just for us, but for our kids (even though I don't have any...unless pooties count as kids), our grand kids and future generations.
Perhaps this call to arms is a bit self righteous, but even though my vote was a small part of this, I was still a part of it, as were we all.
E pluribus unum. (Of many, one.)
