Best article about the Walmart Black Friday Strike that I've seen so far comes from this morning's Aljazeera with a post by Rose Aguilar:
They've finally had enough. After years of financial and emotional exploitation, Walmart workers, for the first time in the corporation's 50-year history, are striking on Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States. Workers will make history tomorrow by taking part in over 1,000 protests and civil disobedience actions across the country, from Richmond, California, to Miami, Florida....Full article here: http://www.aljazeera.com/...
What the ruling class doesn't seem to understand is that they can only push people so far before they break and say enough is enough. Corporations like Walmart have the cash, resources and lawyers to file endless lawsuits, but the workers have their dignity and no amount of money or profit can take that away.
The workers also have us Kossacks and all the Solidarity and support that we can give them! I am so proud of all that Kossacks that have step forward to donate, plan events, post diaries, and rec, tip, & comment in diaries. It all helps to keep the story front and center.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you are all properly stuffed and rested. Now! ready to head out there and join the picket line. Some events start tonight at 8 PM so please check your times carefully.
Several marquee events are being planned. Here is a list for those of you lucky enough to live within driving distance! See below the Solidarity Squiggle.
