In a major victory for striking HealthBridge employees, today Federal Judge Robert N. Chatigny granted an injunction filed by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to temporarily halt HealthBridge's unilateral implementation of unlawful cuts at five nursing homes. The cuts forced nearly 600 Connecticut caregivers out on strike in July.And more:
Citing HealthBridge's pattern of unlawful activity, Chatigny determined that injunctive relief is necessary to protect HealthBridge employees from illegal behavior until a decision is reached in the case against the company. The injunction reverses HealthBridge's unilateral implementation of contract conditions that destroyed workers' ability to support their families and provide quality care to residents.
Today's decision in favor of workers and against HealthBridge is one of several that have been handed down in recent months. Administrative law judges have issued two additional rulings finding the company guilty of violating federal laws intended to protect workers' rights.

“We all have a shared stake in Hyatt’s success, but no one who cleans rooms like me has a real say at Hyatt,” says Cathy Youngblood, a housekeeper at the Hyatt Andaz in West Hollywood. “By choosing someone like me to be on the board, Hyatt could be a model for corporate America at a time when so many American workers feel left behind.”
Currently, Hyatt has twelve directors on its board. The new resolution proposes that a 13th board member be added from the ranks of Hyatt’s staff.
