Mark Thompson from MIP just provided examples on his 12/11/12 show suggesting that the wording in Michigan's newest union busting laws are almost word for word from the ALEC playbook.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

"Right to work"? Ha ha! What a corrupt bunch of assholes. Oh yeah people don't have the right to work when they are not 'allowed' to work for peanuts.

"Right to work" equals to right to work for peanuts.

'Cause teh 'job creators' aren't gonna create teh jobs unless we the people have the right to work for peanuts, right?

Right to be cheated out of a decent wage?
Right to not have any job security, health care, pension, sick leave?

Right to give up on one's human rights?

Like I said. The fuckers are good at rhetoric.

One thing they don't know though... that the people are catching up with their bull.

    They are being exposed.

They have a right to be exposed, I guess...

There have been several stats to confirm that right to work states have lower wages. I can attest to that-- I work in the lovely "Right to work" state of Oregon.

Yes we are waking up. There are some issues with Unions. But I say Occupy them and fix them; don't throw the baby out with the bath water; don't reinvent the wheel. Unions have gone astray because we let them. We need to Occupy them with new energy and new ideas.

Thanks for your truth and passion.

As I laid out here there is a whole chain of influence.  At each step in the legislative process, there were ALEC members there pushing for the bill. The bill sat for almost a year in legislative purgatory, until the start of this month. Then, after an ALEC meeting at which a Heritage rep held a session on unionbusting, the bill is resurrected.  I have a hard time believing this is a coincidence.

Snyder is on morning Joe right now.  Both Snyder and the cast of Morning Joe are laughable.  Snyder is laughable is his defense of right to work when he says this will be a positive affect on employees and union members.  He's a liar; he and all these conservative liars have a tell.  The tell is that in answer to every question they begin as if they are going to answer the question directly and then rapidly spiral to the core talking points provided to them by someone - probably ALEC.

The cast is laughable because they did not ask him about the nefarious tactics used to push through this legislation.  They avoided all normal procedures to pass this because they could not pass it using existing, acceptable procedure.

Radical, racist, right-wing, republicans, with the help of Citizens United, ALEC and other wealthy interests are poised to pull the purse strings of liberty so tight that it will never again see the light of day.

We need to fight even harder faced with an even more determined effort to usurp control of our nation lest we be like other countries ruled by a few special interests.
