T'was the night before Christmas and behind a big desk
A little boy of 12 delighted in ways to make people suffer in his head
He thought and he thought until the idea became clear
As long as there are no taxes the safety nets will disappear.

He savored his idea, dreamt of how he could destroy
The fabric of the nation he claimed as his toy
He kept his childhood dream alive until he had
the opportunity to get into a politicians head
He found his angel of no mercy in a man so revered
They named him Saint Ronnie and everyone cheered.

Forward the little man boy did go
Seeking out those who agreed with his ploy.
He was backed by those with millions and billions
For they were much more interested
In finding ways in paying no taxes.

Why should we pay taxes
On money we made
This country would be nothing
Without us they say
We are the job creators
Trickle down is the way
That is the truth we swear
And don't you be gullible
For that liberal based media
It's nothing more than trying to deceive ya.

The little man convinced Republicans that his pledge was best
To forget their own oath to the people instead
The Republicans cheered and the Koch brothers cried
We've found the man who can make government despised
And best of all, on the sly.

To get support, they told the masses they too
Would one day be rich and a part of the crew
They lied and cajoled and never came near
To the truth that these people may one day see clear

They defunded education, deregulated guns, made sure bankers never had to succumb
To any regulation that might have been applied
For some sort of help to let the public survive
They bought all the seats all through the house
He didn't miss a thing, the big fat louse.

A man named Murdoch helped with the ruse
He started a network that never told the truth
They'd have all the players spouting the fear
The democrats want your bibles, your guns and instead
For all of us to be equal as if we were one.

More fell in line to sell the brew
The Coulters and Limbaughs were drafted into view
And delivered the hatred that grew and grew
They delighted in the dollars
And were happy to help
Americans hate Americans
As the patriotic thing to do.

The party of white guys were now at his beck and call
He owned them outright, one and all
They gerrymandered themselves into lifetime roles
To tell the rest of us, haha! you have no control.
We aren't public servants, we are your real nightmare
We've set out to destroy you
On that you can be sure.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
