Former Vice President Dick Cheney, who accidentally shot Texas attorney Harry Whittington during a 2006 quail-hunting trip, told FOX News that he thinks that armed school guards are a "more effective deterrent" to gun violence in schools than anything that President Obama supports.
Read all about it here!
When asked about gun safety, Cheney repeated the NRA's talking points by saying that he supports having armed guards in schools, and called it "probably a more effective deterrent than anything that Congress seems to be debating at the present time."
Cheney, when asked by FOX News correspondent Griff Jenkins about whether or not Cheney thought that President Obama's gun control proposals violate the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, went off-topic and said this about a recent court ruling in which President Obama's recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board were ruled unconstitutional:
Well, I think a lot of people are, especially after what happened last week with respect to the D.C. circuit court of appeals, found that he operated unconstitutionally, was in violation of the Constitution on his recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board.
Now, a year ago, he put three people on the board, claiming that the Senate was in recess and that therefore, he could use that power to appoint them, and, in fact, the Senate was not in recess. It's now gone through the courts, and we've seen the D.C. circuit, one of the highest court in the land, next to the Supreme Court, say that what he did was unconstitutional.
So the concern is I think very real and very legitimate that the administration sometimes isn't as cautious or as precise, if you will. I mean, there was a deliberate case where, in fact, the courts found that he violated the Constitution.
Seriosuly, who listens to Dick Cheney anymore?
