Here's the deal: Albuquerque has an odious & unconstitutional ballot measure, up for vote Nov. 19, that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. The City Council, dominated by GOP'rs, decided to deprive UNM students of an opportunity to vote on or near their campus. The nearest voting center will be downtown - not exactly congenial to student voters!
Fortunately, one of the groups fighting this ballot measure, Progress Now NM, has plans to hire a shuttle to take students to the polls and back on Nov. 19. They're asking for donations to help pay for the shuttle. Donations can be made at Act Blue - Let UNM Vote
I've long hollered for more GOTV actions from our side, plus I'm utterly nauseated that this craptacular measure is on our ballot, so I when I saw Progress Now NM's post about the shuttle on Facebook, I immediately hopped over to the Act Blue page and chipped in a few bucks. I'm hoping some folks might kindly do the same. For more information about the ballot measure, see RespectABQWomen.org.
Albuquerque & I thank you!
