BIG edit: the person testifying at the Congressional hearing about Ebola today was Daniel Varga, the Chief CLINICAL Officer, not the CEO. Which is almost worse since he's in charge of the medical side of everything!
Asked if any on-site and in-person training took place at his hospital after receiving the CDC alerts on July 28, the {not CEO} Chief Clinical Officer of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital finally admitted "No."
Not much of a diary as the hearings are not over, but the heart of the matter was exposed early on.
So, to review:
1. The CDC did indeed sound the alarm - 3 months ago, in plenty of time to train and equip staff
2. Some hospitals did ignore that alarm
3. The CDC has no power to force hospitals to follow their guidelines
