Many of us pet owners know the feeling. The fear and dread that overcome you when your furry baby is missing.
It has happened to me a few times in my life. The first and most memorable, though, was when I was a kid, and my beloved cat Nermal ran off into the woods behind our house. After we looked for her, a week passed, during which we couldn't do much except hope for her safe return. Eventually, it turned into mourning. I'll never forget the elation I experienced when I got home from school, feeling miserable, to find a handwritten note from my dad on the kitchen table that simply read (in all caps and underlined a few times): "THE CAT CAME BACK." And there I found Nermal in the living room, safe and sound, and probably wondering why I was sobbing into her fur.
The bond between a child and their pet is precious. A friend forwarded the below video to me, and I've probably watched it a good five times. My Nermal only disappeared for a week--these kids' cat was gone for two months before she was found wandering around a gas station. You don't have to imagine what the reunion was like:
If that doesn't warm your heart on this Saturday evening, I give up. What do you want to kibitz about tonight?

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
