Primary day came and went yesterday in Texas, and I didn't make it to the polls. Now, I have some interesting options for the fall.
First of all, I live in southern Denton county, Texas. This probably is one of the reddest areas in the huge red state of Texas. ALL of the action for local races was on the GOP side. I'm not sure if there even was one Democrat who filed for a local race. So, even though I usually try to vote each time, there was absolutely no reason for me to go to the polls yesterday.
More below the fold:
Because I didn't vote yesterday, I have the option of signing either Kinky Friedman's or Carole Keeton McLellan Rylander Cougar Mellencamp Strayhorn's petition to get on the November Governor's ballot as and an independent. If Kinky can collect signatures like bad one-liners, and "Grandma" can collect signatures like ex-husbands, they both have a shot at getting on the ballot. Seeing as I have about as good a chance of being elected this fall as Democratic nominee Chris Bell does in a 2 way race, I think it would be great (and entertaining) to get as many people on the ballot as possible. So, I'll leave it up to my fellow Texas Kossacks to light the way this fall and tell me what I should do.
