After her extension of yesterday's stay, I've been having a 28 hour panic attack... I've been checking the Scotusblog every few minutes since then for any news... After nothing came up today, I started giving up hope.. Then, on a whim, I decide to check one more time just now. Imagine my relief and joy when I saw:
Court clears Chrysler sale
http://www.scotusblog.com/...
The Ruling comes with a warning, though... Insisting that it was denying a postponement "in this case alone." That means the wingnuts will certainly try again to derail the Obama's GM bankruptcy.... It also looks like she acted alone and did not refer this to the full court.
I can finally get some sleep tonight! Thank you justice Ginsburg!!!
More info and updates as I get them.... Updates below the fold...
UPDATE: Wooo hooo!!! I made the rec list for the first time ever!!! Thank you so much for your recommendations!!! I'm truly humbled! Wow!!!! Look at me, ma! I'm on top of the world! LOL! ;-) Where's Muskegon Critic? This one's for you, man!! ;-) You and all the other Rust Belt Kossacks here (like FistJab, dkmich, Dump Terry McAuliffe, anastasia p, Dirtandiron, jodygirl, and many more) that have endured these tough times and made sure that the rest of the world didn't forget us! Have a virtual beer on me!
UPDATE 2: As noted in the comments, the Indiana pension fund spent $2 million in legal fees for this frivolous challenge. They had only lost $4 million total in the distressed Chrysler bonds they bought last year. This was nothing more than a political ploy by right wing activists... there was nothing "fiduciary" about it... even if they won their case, the pensioners would have lost more money as a liquidated Chrysler would have been worth practically nothing. Right wingers tried destroying their own home state of Indiana (where many Chrysler facilities operate) in order to break a union and hurt our president. They will stop at nothing to try and regain power... nothing!
UPDATE 3: Scotusblog published a more detailed analysis after I posted my diary... definitely worth a read: http://www.scotusblog.com/...
UPDATE 4: The sale will be closed tomorrow... http://www.bloomberg.com/...
Apparently, Chrysler is not changing their name. I think that's a bad idea. The need a fresh start. I know that name changes are expensive, but I think it's worth it, personally...
UPDATE 5: Well, it seems that nothing lasts forever.... It looks like I scrolled off the rec list and my 15 minutes of fame are over for now. :-(
Thank you, though, for the wild ride on top of the dKos world! :-) I made sure to get a screen capture so I can show my future grandkids someday... ;-) I can imagine it now...
"Look, kids, your grandpa was once on the rec list!"
"Wow, grandpa! YOU were on the daily Kos rec list? WOW!"
"I sure was!" What was it like?"
"It was a greatest feeling in the world!" ;-)
