Oh, how wrong they were.
Never mind the people living outside reality who assumed Romney not only would win but would win in a landslide of epic proportions.
Never mind that nonsense, for now. They weren't just wrong on that, they were out in some never-never land of denying that we breathe air, denying the law of gravity, and denying that there is even such a thing as "denial."

We heard over and over (INCLUDING FROM OUR SIDE) about how Obama's supporters were demoralized. About the 'enthusiasm gap.'
Remember Obama's eye-popping vote totals from 2008? About 69.5 million people voted for the president 4 years ago. No American president has EVER received that many votes.
Right now CNN's vote totals show the president with 60.5 million votes.
It's two days after the election.
So you think that President Obama's vote totals dropped off 9 million?
Think again.
Based on my simplified calculations, I believe when all the outstanding votes are reported and certified, the President received OVER 68 MILLION VOTES.
Here's the, ahem, math.

Total reported vote totals for Obama: 60,899,054
** as of 11/8/2012, 7:15pm EST, per CNN.com
Projected final Obama vote totals once all votes are reported: 68,017,898
Now, my formula may be inaccurate because the percent of the reported vote totals may not correspond exactly to actual outstanding votes for Obama.
Time will tell on that score.
But let's get real here. There are outstanding votes all across the U.S., including very significant outstanding numbers from large or very large states including AZ, CA, IL, MI, NY, and WA.
There are millions of votes that have not yet been reported.
If it's anything close to that simple mathematical projection, President Obama will have received the highest AND the second-highest total votes EVER for a presidential candidate in U.S. history, and the second number may be very close to the first.
So no, it appears clear that President Obama did NOT have a huge dropoff of voter support from 2008 to 2012.
