This is not about any particular friend. It's just about friends. And I'm not making a distinction between friends and other loved ones, or between love and compassion for that matter. These are all part of the same whole in my view.
Honest connections between people are not always easily achieved or maintained, and for their very rarity they are somehow all the more precious, and somehow wondrous. Though often as elusive as the melting snow, that deep connection between people is a special feature of the human experience. Is it surprising that we make such deep running connections? In a social species, perhaps not, yet it's a standout in the panoply of a human life. It is a very special part of being human.
Friends and loved ones are what we care most deeply about in the end. We miss our friends more than anything else. When everything else is gone, it's your friends and family that matter. Ask a prisoner, who has been stripped of everything, what matters in life. They'll tell you. They know.
Friends, loved ones, lovers - the actual finest things in life. No one who's ever needed a friend could deny it. No one who has ever relied upon mercy or goodwill could object. No one who has loved will demur.
Friends, loved ones, lovers and family are the finest things in life. And if you have all of these in your life, you are rich indeed.
Blessings my friends. Best wishes to you all.
