It's two days after Christmas, and I'm still in holiday mode, so pardon me. We'll be back to our regularly scheduled non-holiday diaries soon.
I wasn't very old when I started questioning Santa's existence. I don't remember when I finally decided he wasn't real, but maybe it was after he failed to bring me that Maurice toy I asked for. Disney's Beauty and the Beast was my very favorite movie, and my collection of toys only lacked craaazy old Maurice. It never came, although to be fair to Santa, I'm not sure if it even existed (I can't imagine there being a high demand for Maurice). Nevertheless, I stopped believing at a young age, and I think I even pried the truth out of my parents. Then, turning from a skeptic into a full-fledged Santa atheist, I was sternly reprimanded for informing my elementary school lunch table that the bastard wasn't real. Perhaps if I'd had a GoPro, I'd have at least tried to gather evidence, like seven-year-old Evan did this year.
The below video shows both the (very nicely edited) footage the GoPro caught, alongside young Evan's reaction. From the accompanying article:
Evan’s uncle, Dean Fisher, dressed up as the jolly old elf and spent all Christmas Eve editing Santa’s cameo together just for Evan. How sweet!
“His older brother allowed him to use a GoPro; he’s the one hitting record at the start of the video,” explains Dean. “I went to the house dressed as The Jolly One and did the shoot, then stayed up until 4:00am editing and getting the finished video back onto the GoPro. The 2 hours of sleep was definitely worth it.”
You'd think that, if "The Jolly One" can appear in a puff of smoke and make presents appear out of thin air, he would have been able to bring me Maurice. Oh well. I'm not bitter.
What do you want to kibitz about tonight?

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
