At some point, I came to the realization that Zoe owns most of this apartment I pay for. I have exactly two spots: the end of the sofa during the day and the bed at night. And the bed isn't even completely mine. She has converted under the bed into a cat cave where she and Basement Cat plan diabolical shit a super secretive place I'm not supposed to know anything about.
Zoe, on the other hand? Well, she has her big tower that the BF blew a paycheck on. And then there's the smaller tower in my bedroom, which we call the "vacation home." Then she has some prime real estate under the table, where her covered cat bed (mini cat cave) is located. And this is what my love seat currently looks like (suffice it to say there's no loving going on here):
Yes, that's two beds. And yes, she takes full advantage of both. Just today, I watched her get up from one bed, streeeeetch, walk over to the other bed, and collapse. When you sleep 18 hours a day, there is no such thing as too many beds. Human visitors to my apartment sit on the love seat at their own risk.
And then there's the floor, most of which she owns and upon which she is perfectly content to sprawl out like a fluffy starfish.
I'm basically a guest here. If Zoe could start renting out some of this property she has accumulated to other cats, she could be a regular real estate mogul. She could turn her tower alone into quite an apartment complex. It's a pretty frightening idea, and I fear the day might come when cats grow thumbs, allowing them to start using the computer to place ads. What got me thinking about it is this video, which depicts the scenario quite well:
This is the pootie endgame, I'm afraid. If Basement Cat had his way, we'd be the ones sleeping on the cat bed.
