Wal-Mart Loves low wages and food stamps and here's why...
Is it any wonder that Wal-Mart pays low wages? I think it is a purposeful hatred of poor people and a need for greed. They pay their people so little that they rely on food stamps, but where do they spend those food stamps? At Wal-Mart of course.
Not only does Wal-Mart get hundreds of millions in tax payer subsides, for each store they own, but they pay their people so little that they have to get food stamps to eat, and they spend those food stamps where they work, so Wal-Mart is in the business of double dipping. Wal-Mart employees get their pay checks and spend them at Wal-Mart, on cheap Chinese crap, and then they get their food stamps and spend them at Wal-Mart too.
This is how corporate America works. The fat cats don't reinvest money into their businesses because they'd rather sit on their pile of cash than to spread the wealth to those who actually do the work.
They don't seem to grasp the concept that without their employees, they'd have no business. Who would take care of their customers? No employees, no business because ultimately there would be no customers.
I was in a Wal-Mart the other day and came upon an employee, in the bathroom, crying her eyes out. I don't know why she was upset, other than she said she was having a bad day. Obviously she was having a bad day, but because she was at work and I was a customer, she couldn't bring herself to be detailed as to why she was crying. My heart went out to her, because I have those days too. Days where all you can think of is how you're going to pay the rent, the light bill, and eat. I am sure none of the corporate fat cats have those worries and neither do their puppets in Congress. They have more than they need, while most of the rest of us are scraping by. They don't shop at Wal-Mart, because they don't stress over how much a package of under ware costs. They don't buy shoes for their kids, knowing they'll have to do it again in three months because the cheap Chinese crap they were forced to buy wears out. They don't have to buy cheap Chinese crap in the first place. Their kids probably wear a $200 pair of shoes while mine run around in $10 Wal-Mart specials.
So, if you ask me, Wal-Mart pays low wages on purpose. They do it so they can get all that food stamp money. I can't see a Wal-Mart employee shopping anywhere else since they can't afford to, food stamps or no. How many Wal-Mart employees do you think go shopping at Safe Way or City Market after getting their food stamps? Probably none. They probably punch out after their shift and get what they need before they walk out the door. I think the Waltons count on that. Raise the minimum wage!
I am sure there are other corporations who are up to such fuckery, but Wal-Mart seems to me to be the most glaring example of this. Sure, they set up food donation locations for their employees, but where do those purchases come from? The same company who asks for donations. Please donate food to our employees as you're buying things for your own family. We spend money on the food we donate. Wal-Mart makes money on the food we buy to donate. Is that a scam, or what? They pay low wages so their employees must get food stamps and they make money on those food stamps every time an employee shops to eat. Fuckery. All of it and it must stop. If you really want to hurt the corporate fucks who are trying to rule this country, stop shopping them. If you stop buying, they'll have no choice but to change. I urge Wal-Mart employees to take their food stamps elsewhere. You might pay more, but you'll hurt the fat cats where it counts... in their wallets.
I'm glad that Wal-Mart has raised their starting pay, but as a single mother I couldn't make ends meet on $10/hr. 20 years ago, so how does one make ends meet on $9/hr. today? You don't. And this is why people become drug dealers. There's more money in it.
