1. Blogs written by supporters to promote their candidate.
2. Blogs written by supporters to oppose other candidates.
3. Blogs written by people who just want to share their thoughts and feelings.
I write the 3rd type. I have written a number of blogs about the primary and all of them have been about sharing my thoughts and feelings. Not a single blog was written with the expectation that I was going to change anyone’s mind. I just wanted to share my mind with the hope that others would want to join in a discussion.
I have written about wanting a woman instead of just another old white man for President. I have written about how Hillary is in danger of losing my vote if she doesn’t speak out forcefully about an issue I care about. I have written about how much I feel meh for Hillary. More than once. Yeah, I don’t feel that enthusiastic about HIllary.
I have written about how much I have loved Bernie for years, but don’t think he can win the primary. And then when it looked like he could win the primary, I wrote about how I didn’t think he could win the general. And then when it looked like he could win the general, I wrote about how I don’t think he can get any of his proposals accomplished. Yeah, I have doubts about Bernie’s ability to deliver what he promises.
I have written about how much I wish Biden would run, because I am not really feeling either of our candidates. Biden has his vulnerabilities, but I think he would win the general and I have no doubt about how good of a job he would do as President.
I have not written about O’Malley, because I can’t stand the way he stabs Bernie and Hillary in the back in the debates and the last time I wrote what I thought and felt about him it included the words fuck and himself and I lost a bar of mojo. :P
I have written about what a glass jaw I think Trump has and how I prayed to all of the deities that if they make sure Trump is the GOP nominee that they don’t have to make sure the Seahawks go to the super bowl this year. Sorry 12s. :(
I have written about how much I am going to miss Obama being President. He’s really the gold standard for a pragmatic dreamer like me. He didn’t usher in a liberal utopia, but I have never seen such a die hard in politics in my life. Like he says… he doesn’t quit. He might have to back up and try to figure out a different way, but he never quits.
So, yeah, here I am, a week from Iowa and I am meh-fully supporting Hillary while wishing Bernie would show me something to dispel my doubts about him but mostly just keeping my fingers crossed that neither of them get so dirty that we go into the general ashamed of ourselves.
Oh, and hoping that the deity who answered my prayers about Trump isn’t the Trickster and I didn’t just cause the end of modern civilization as we know it.
What I am not doing is thinking about how to convince Bernie supporters to join me supporting Hillary. I just want to be able to talk to people I like and relate to about this primary and this election, because it’s important to me. I don’t think I am alone in this.
