I donated to Bernie’s campaign for the first time this morning, and then attempted to buy a bumper sticker from his campaign store. When I tried to buy the sticker, my credit card kept getting declined. I know that I wasn’t over the limit and was current on my bills, and I checked several times to make sure I had the number right.
A little while later, I got an automated call and text from my credit card company that the transaction had triggered a fraud protection alert, and asking me to confirm that the transaction was valid.
Has this happened to anyone else? I think it is probably a coincidence rather than conspiracy, but Bernie has been beating up the banks pretty badly, and I suppose it is possible they could be discouraging donations to his campaign under the guise of fraud protection. Like I said, I am not alleging a conspiracy based on my one experience. I think it’s more likely because I tried to do the 2 transactions in quick succession. But upon the advice of another poster, I am putting this out there to see if anyone else has had the same issue. If it is happening a lot the campaign should be made aware of it.
