Based on The Republican Party’s thesis that politicians lose their full powers of office in an election year, we have a Democratic Majority in the Senate.
34 Senators are up for reelection or retiring. Of those 24 are Republicans and 10 are Democrats.
That leaves 30 Republicans (of 54) and 34 Democrats (of 44) plus two Independents in charge of the Senate for the remainder of this term. 34 is greater than 30.
The 34 Democrats not up for reelection should name a new Majority Leader before the break and come back and reset the filibuster rules (if needed) and confirm the SCOTUS nominee.
Done.
I mean if people are going to get to just make up their own rules, then I’d say that there’s no reason we shouldn’t go ahead and use them to our advantage. The Senate wasn’t going to get anything done this year anyway under McConnell’s leadership and with the fake Republican majority (citing their rule here).
