We’re not some kind of insurgency. A lot of us have been around here for years. We’ve fought all of the same battles everyone else has. We oppose Republicans and everything they represent, always and without question. We are the foot soldiers and allies of the Democratic Party.
Now, given the option, we seek a different way forward than what has become the recent status quo. We don’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The Democratic Party is the structure that we’ve chosen to organize around. We’re willing to work within the existing structure.
We’ve raised legitimate concerns about Hilary. We don’t do this because we’re Republican sympathizers, or because we seek to destroy the party. We’re allies. Our concerns are shouted down or ignored.
We don’t want to accept without question positions that we feel betray the traditional principles that attracted us to the Party. I feel we’ve been asked to do that a lot. Despite feeling we were sold out with compromises, we’re still supposed to be loyal at election time. And we are.
The Clintons rescued the party from the wilderness, but there can be no denying that they changed it too. If it got us back in the game, then good. If Democrats had to join ‘em to have a chance to beat ‘em, maybe it was a fair price. I think it’s a price we’ve paid in full.
