Asked today if sexism played into Sanders’ attack on Clinton’s qualifications for the presidency Bill Clinton said, “Yes” and then went on to explain that subconsciously Bernie Sanders’ view of Hillary Clinton is shaped by sexism.

So that happened.
In other news, today on Daily Kos I read a really interesting comment claiming that Sanders is going to the Vatican because he is a sexist and will be plotting to keep women down with the Pope.
Is this shit really happening?
Should we all look at ourselves in the mirror and really contemplate whether or not it was latent and unconscious sexism when we rejected Sarah Palin? Should we in fairness and in an effort to overcome our unrecognized gender bias give Carly Fiorina a second look?
Now, I’d like to clearly state that I personally do not think that sexism played any role at all in my determination that neither Palin nor Fiorina should ever have access to the nuclear codes — or even area codes in Palin’s case, but Bill Clinton seems to think that we are all victims of bias with respect to forming our opinions about his candidate and wife in this Democratic primary.
I am not sure what to make of it all.
Claims like this are starting to push this contest over into lampoon territory. Lampoon territory that would manifest as self inflicted wounds come the general election for the Clinton camp. The satire that comes to me is pretty vast and potent. Bill needs to stick with speaking to his legal and government expertise and stay out daytime television talk show armchair psychoanalysis.
