There is a new WBUR of Massachusetts poll out, and it shows some troubling news for 2018. Only 44% think senator Elizabeth Warren deserves reelection, and 46% think it’s time to “give someone else a chance”. Warren has 51% approval overall, and 37% unfavorable. This same poll also shows Republican Governor Charlie Baker with 59% approval and 18% unfavorable and 51% think he deserves reelection with only 29% thinking it’s time “to give someone else a chance”.. There’s lots more here:
WBUR Massachusetts Statewide Poll
If this is the state of things in bluest of blue Massachusetts and Elizabeth Warren, by far the most progressive and recognized politician in the Democratic party, is polling behind the Republican governor and is barely thought of as worthy of reelection, what does this say about the current state of messaging coming out of the Democratic party? There is a lot to unpack in this poll, it also shows abysmal ratings for Donald Trump and his policies, but it would appear so far none of that toxicity has either helped Democrats or hurt Republicans up for re-election in 2018 in this blue state so far.
