EDUCATION: With spiking cases due to deltarona, this is really, really ugly. Abbott wants to mandate by law that all kids go to school in person with no virtual options for those parents who want one, a legal ban to face masks, and a ban on mandatory vaccinations. Seriously, only the member of a death cult could like this. Oh, wait.
The BAD:
BAIL REFORM: Abbott wants to criminalize being poor and not allow local prosecutors to set reasonable bails.
FEDERAL RELIEF APPROPRIATIONS: Abbott is trying to get the legislature to reappropriate unspent money granted by the Federal Government via the CARES and American Recovery Acts to items not authorized by either Act.
APPROPRIATIONS: Abbott wants to use the above Federal money to cover other, inappropriate state expenses so he can offer a property tax break in advance of the next election.
SOCIAL MEDIA CENSORSHIP: Abbott want to prevent Facebook and Twitter from banning or suspending people who post deadly misinformation.
FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION: Abbott wants legislation that allows child abusers and rapists to opt their children out of instruction designed to prevent child abuse, rape, and date rape.
EMPLOYMENT: Abbott wants to nullify Federal and local employment rules so that your boss can treat you like the human chattel he believes you to be. To be fair, Abbott hates dogs too.
STATE LEGISLATURE: Abbott wants to change the quorum rules in the lege so the GOP can ram through any extremist crap they want.
The GOOD:
ARTICLE X FUNDING: Abbott vetoed the funding for legislative staffers in order blackmail Democrats to accept the above awfulness. Yes. Staffers should be paid. But not at the expense of the above parade of horribles.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS: Duh, the lege knew the census data was coming late, they could have rescheduled the elections during the regular session. If the Democratic legislators keep their nerve, Federal courts are going to end up drawing new lines for 2022 and SD, HD, and SBOE lines will remain the same.

My central Plano (and west Allen and north Richardson) state Rep. Jeff Leach says you can call him on his cell phone anytime: 469-855-0417. Take him up on that offer and let him know what a horrible agenda this is. Especially the part that will put our kids at risk.
