Another gruesome scene of devastation has happened in another of our nation’s schools and you claim that there are no solutions but more guns and “hardening” our schools. OK, I’m wiling to accept those might be the only solutions you’re willing to consider but that raises many questions.
Questions like, who is going to pay for those hardened schools? Will you vote to raise taxes to pay for it or will you take money from some other program we desperately need?
What specific technology do you think will work all the time and not turn into something that ends up working 100% of time half the time at best? For example if a fire breaks out in a school and there’s only one egress and the “man trap” malfunctions and locks them all inside will you pay for the funerals of all the dead children?
Who will pay for teachers to be trained in combat tactics? How about the guns and body armor for those teachers? Will you raise taxes for that? If not where will the money come from to pay for it?
Where will that armor and those weapons be stored that is both easy for the teachers to get in an emergency but yet impossible for the kids to find? And if you have children will you send them to a public school fortified like a Super-Max prison with armed teachers and weapon depots?
Oh, and please, dear Republican — could you give me an answer BEFORE you go to the next NRA convention? Or would that be asking too much?
