It was an interesting day. Some of the ads that had disappeared last week were back on today, but they only played during the first ten minutes of the show and the last ten minutes. There were still quite a few PSAs, they backed off on the station promos, just 2 or 3 and hour instead the 8 an hour on Friday. Also, there was a list posted of all the national companies that have stepped back from shows that station managers know to be "offensive or controversial" ... I imagined a sitch along the lines of this:
"Hi, I heard your ad on Rush Limbaugh today. Are you aware that a group of over 90 national companies have cancelled their advertising, not only on Rush Limbaugh's, but also other similar hate speech shows? ... These include Ford, Geico, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Rite Aid, and many more names you'd immediately recognize. They've decided that they don't want their brand names associated with hateful talk such as this. Given the resources they have to study PR data, do you think maybe they know something that you don't?"
Here is the list:

And to get really specific one could target the product area of the advertisers you're contacting, for example, for contacting Gateway Medical refer to some of the health care related businesses, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc. Get them concerned that their market's demographics cautions against advertising on these show. And we can also use this information as a way to up the ante with them, asking them to step away from all hate radio support, not just Limbaugh. And BTW, a key word in that last sentence is "support". They need to be reminded that hate radio is the collective responsibility of everybody who pays to advertise on these stations. Big time corporate America gets it, do they?
Here are today's advertisers that I could get recorded. I missed a few for unavoidable reasons, sorry.

A number of the advertisers on the list above were among those we have been calling. We are having an impact and need to keep on keeping on. There doesn't seem to be any lack of enthusiasm at DailyKos today. Let's be in touch with these new advertisers and continue the pressure on the holdouts and backsliders. I am also pleased to note that although they aren't on the list, Grasshopper Mowers wasn't on today, despite their recorded message last week stating that they would continue to advertise on Limbaugh. Also, the right wingers are whining heavily about us mean lefty's using economic/market pressure to get them off the air. Sean Hannity was particularly self-righteous about this. (If you're not familiar with Sean Hannity picture a cornered rat with slicked down black hair and dimples.) Today's "Go get 'em" video goes out to Sean ...
1:29 PM PT: The track event is actually a series, TrackTown Tuesdays ... info at this link:
